This chapter sets out the visa or entry permit requirements for Somaliland.

The Department of Immigration, Ministry of Interior and Republic of Somaliland would like to inform all travelers to Somaliland about changes regarding visa requirements, process, and applications. In line with the Government’s National Development Plan and an overall policy of promoting Foreign Direct Investment and the Tourism Sector, the Ministry of Interior, while taking into account the security needs of the country would like to implement the following changes to improve service delivery and ensure compliance with international standards and practices through the Department of Immigration. Only applicants or travelers belonging to the following Category A will be able to obtain an entry visa on arrival at all Ports of entries:
1.The following passport holders can obtain visas on arrival: European passport, Canadian, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Members Of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)- Such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait,UAE,Qatar,Bahrain and Oman
2.Diplomatic Passport Holders,
3.UN passport holders,
4.National Service Passport holders,
5.Travelers from Multilateral Agencies, such as EU, AU, World Bank, IGAD passport and ETC.
6.Members of Official Foreign Delegations invited by Somaliland Government.
7.Business investors invited by the Somaliland Chamber of Commerce.
8.Somali Ethnic Origin with Foreign Travel Documents.
Category B: All International and local NGO’s will be required to apply for a visa application letter through their local agents in Somaliland at the Department of Immigration Head Quarter or their respective Somaliland Liaison Offices in their country of residence or their line ministries.
NP: All International and Local NGO’s must be registered with the Somaliland Ministry of Planning.
All other applicants regardless of their nationality will be required to apply for the respective Business, Tourist, Transit visas, etc. in advance of their arrival at Department of Immigration Head Quarters through their local agents or their respective Somaliland Liaison offices in their country of residence. Entry visas that will be accepted on arrival will now be obtainable from Somaliland Liaison offices (London, Addis Ababa, Djibouti etc.). In addition, Visa forms will be obtainable through the Department of Immigration
